4 All-Rounded Good Health Habits To Cultivate

In life, we have many things to worry about – the bacon on the table, the roof over the head, relationships, work etc. In addition, in this internet era, we are distracted by the overwhelming flow of information around us. It is no wonder that many of us create a lot of stress for our body and mind, and totally neglect our health.

But not to worry, we can still cultivate good health habits in order to live a healthy life, and they are really effective ways, and also easy to implement!

1. Breathing – Breathing is such an automatic response of our body that many of us don’t pause to think about it. Besides keeping us alive, it can even be used to train posture, by combining awareness practice with aerobic training. When you’re spending time alone, try to focus on the process, and feel the movement of your body. In fact you can try deep breathing too.

2. Diet – Like breathing, some of us don’t think much about food. When the time comes, we just buy/eat the food that is most convenient – like fast food. Pizza, pasta, barbequed food are just so delicious, but the truth is they are so overloaded with sugar, salt and fats that it is too unhealthy for your body. One very common and easy fix we can work on is the snack. Usually we would love to grab the crackers or potato chips, but try something healthier – fruits and nuts can be both delicious and nutritious too!

3. Gratitude – Besides good habits to strengthen the body, the mind should not be neglected too. Many a time, the human mind is wholly distracted by anger, stress, despair and other negative emotions, and this in turn essentially affects the health of the body too. Positive emotions ought to be cultivated too, like happiness, joy, and gratitude. Let us give thanks for all the little things that make our life a happier and healthier one. Shift our focus to the positive side of things instead of mulling over the opposite. Smile, say thank you and compliment others.

4. Sleep – While the body recharges itself through food, the mind does so through sleep. Therefore it is very important to ensure adequate sleep everyday. A restful sleep allows your brain to process the information absorbed during the day, so that it can be retained. In addition, the brain also uses this time to flush the toxins out of its cells. So you can see that sleep is crucial to maintain your health!
